Faculty & Staff

Faculty and staff work closely with the Registrar team to manage courses and support students throughout the semester. This toolkit walks you through the processes and forms you’ll need as advisor and an instructor.

Already know what forms you need?

Find a variety of forms under the “Forms I Can Submit” tab in WarriorSpace.

Advising Students

Faculty advisors play an essential role for students as they earn their degrees and pursue careers.

Explore the Faculty Advisors Toolkit to learn how to find your advisees, help them through the course registration process, guide them to other campus resources and more.

Manage Courses

Find all the resources you need to manage your courses including forms for First Day Drop, Registration Override, Course Grade Changes and more.

Submit a Co-Curricular Event or Experience

The Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) program is a way for students to get credit for learning experiences outside of traditional class settings.

The Co-Curricular Transcript features the following learning outcomes:

  • Digital Citizenship
  • Civic Engagement
  • Leadership Development
  • Intercultural Competency

These learning outcomes all align University-wide student learning outcomes developed by the ImPAAct Committee.

If you have an upcoming event or experience that might be a good fit, submit a Co-Curricular Experience Request.

Develop Academic Programs & Resources

Learn how to develop academic programs and find resources including Course Outline Template, Major Map Guide & Template and Term Course Forms.

You can also submit corrections to the course catalog if needed.

Student Data Privacy Concerns

Faculty and staff regularly create, maintain and review student data in their daily work as instructors, advisors and support professionals.

If accessing student data is part of your position, it’s important that you understand your responsibilities to protect students’ privacy.

Data Privacy & FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student educational records. These same rights are reinforced in Minnesota by several state laws, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.

In general, FERPA prohibits sharing educational records or personally identifiable information without the student’s prior consent.

Faculty need to be especially careful about protecting students’ grades. You may not:

  • publicly post grades
  • leave graded student work out where others might see it
  • have another student return graded work to a student
  • have students look through a stack of graded work to find their assignment
  • respond to requests about a student’s grades from parents, employers, clubs, researchers, reporters or social organizations
