Employee Wellness Program

Our Employee Wellness Program is a unique opportunity for WSU employees and students. This program is for faculty and staff looking to health and wellness. It is an opportunity for students to get hands-on learning experience and put into practice their classroom education. For more information on the Employee Wellness Program, please contact us at Employee_Wellness@winona.edu

We sponsor a wide range of events for you and for your family! Check back with us in the fall to see what we have up and coming.

For free one-on-one personal training, you can sign up at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. It is a first come first serve basis. Watch for emails asking for participants to join. For this program, you will receive a health history review, health screening, and development of fitness program based on health screening results.

Participate in a diabetes prevention program facilitated by our nursing students and HERS students. This is a lifestyle change program for people at risk for type 2 diabetes.

The program teaches participants strategies for incorporating physical activity into daily life and eating healthy. This program is available at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. Watch for emails asking for participants to join.

We have Fitness Consultants available! They are personal trainers and will be available to assist, not train, past employee participants. In order to use the Fitness Consultants, employees need to purchase a membership to the Fitness Center. The membership application is accessed on the Fitness Center website.

Fitness Consultant Offerings:

  • General fitness program guidance
  • Occasional fitness tests – up to two per semester, similar to the pre and post tests during the initial semester of training
  • Technique of movements
  • General health and wellness advice
  • Twice monthly informational sessions in a group setting (curriculum for these sessions is on page 2 of this document. The times are TBD)

Our newsletters contain a variety of content incorporating the seven dimensions of wellness: Emotional, Intellectual, Environmental, Occupational, Physical, Social and Spiritual.

Some newsletters contain health articles written by students in various departments and by Winona Health professionals. Other newsletters have testimonials from past employee participants. All of the newsletters have healthy and delicious recipes and updates on Employee Wellness Program events for you to partake in.

Tues. & Thurs. 12:30pm - 1:30pm - IWC 127

Feel as if you sit entirely too much? Want to be able to touch your toes? Can you use a quiet hour of movement? Join the Employee Yoga group on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tuesday’s we use a beginner DVD so that everyone has a chance to stretch and learn some of the basics. On Thursday it is an intermediate Yoga DVD, but even the beginners can do this, just do it at your own pace and abilities. The DVDs run from 20- 45 minutes long. This is a really great way to try yoga out!

Mon. - Fri. 12pm - IWC 127

Unfamiliar with Tai Chi? Want to reduce stress and anxiety while increasing flexibility and balance? Tai Chi can help you do this! It is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise and stretching.

Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion. So stop by the Fitness Studio, IWC 127, across from the Fitness Center entrance, for a lesson in Tai Chi with Bryce every week day at noon.

Memorial Hall Pool is open to all current WSU students, faculty and staff. You need only to present official WSU ID for admittance. For more information on hours, check out the Memorial Hall Pool website.
