"ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to promote excellence in choral music. ACDA is a group of choral professionals whose joy comes from the performance, composition, publishing, research and teaching the fine art of choral music. From the smallest towns to the largest cities across America, we strive to elevate the role of choral music and the way it touches our society. We inspire and lead over a million singers nation-wide, combining individual voices into an instrument of incomparable beauty."

As a student chapter, we focus on improving choral music as an art. We sponsor the choral activities at Winona State by holding fundraisers throughout the year such as working concessions for Winona State Football Games to Culver's 10% nights. The annual Messiah Sing-In is also one of the many events the ACDA Student Chapter is involved in. The High School Honor Choir program held during the Messiah Sing-In brings in high school students from all over Minnesota and Wisconsin to come and sing along with our choirs. This fantastic event gives our ACDA Student Chapter the chance to work one-on-one with high school students to promote our program as well as choral music in the schools.

Students from all majors and minors are welcome to be a part of the ACDA Student Chapter. It is not necessary to be a future choral director to participate in the activities and find them enjoyable. We hold meetings on Wednesdays at 4:30pm in the DuFresne Performing Arts Center Conference Room. You may get more information about the group by checking the music department office or speaking with the ACDA Student Chapter faculty advisor or any of the officers.
