Health Services

Students can receive treatment for minor illnesses, emergency first aid, non-prescription medications, referrals, health counseling and diagnostic tests, and mental health counseling at RCTC Student Health Services.

Medical Services

A registered nurse is available daily and a nurse practitioner is available weekly to assist current students with their health, illness, and injury concerns. Available services include:
  • Evaluation and treatment of acute illnesses (colds, sore throats, etc.)
  • Physical exams for academic and athletic programs
  • TB (tuberculosis) screening
  • Depression and anxiety assessment and referral
  • Laboratory tests for sore throat, urinary tract infection, blood sugar, sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy
  • Condoms
  • Over-the-counter medications for colds, pain, and stomach problems

Mental Health Services

A licensed mental health therapist from Zumbro Valley Health Center (ZVHC) is available to both RCTC and WSU-Rochester students. ZVHC services are confidential and all records are kept separate from RCTC Health Services records.

Current RCTC and WSU-R students can go to https://healthservices.rctc.edu to schedule appointments with the registered nurse, the nurse practitioner, or the mental health therapist. Just select the service needed, choose from the available days and time, and enter your information. You will receive an email confirmation of your appointment. If you have questions, call us at 507-285-7261.

Fees

The costs for most services are covered by the Health Service fee included on the tuition statement, so there is typically no additional fee to visit with the nurse. A nominal fee may be charged for certain services or supplies.

If students have health insurance coverage, ZVHC will bill the insurance company for mental health therapy services. Students are never denied services if unable to pay or unable/unwilling to use their health insurance.
