Scholarships & Travel Grants

Spanish majors and minors are invited by the program to apply for travel awards when they apply for study abroad through Winona State.

As part of our partnership with the SOL Education Abroad program, the Spanish program of Global Studies & World Languages chooses one student for each semester (Fall, Winter, Summer) to receive a $500 SOL scholarship toward their program tuition.

Mary O. Graham was a graduate of Winona Normal School, now Winona State University, who traveled to Argentina in the 1880s to help direct a teachers' college in San Juan. She lived the rest of her life in Argentina, and today two normal schools (teacher colleges) in Argentina are named after her, one in San Juan and the other in La Plata. In the spirit of Mary O. Graham's leadership and service abroad, the Spanish program of Global Studies & World Languages offers travel awards for Spanish majors/minors studying abroad. The award amount varies based on fund availability.

The Global Studies program awards $1000 (the number depends upon funds available and qualified applicants) toward airfare to a study abroad destination. This award is available only to Global Studies majors.
