Accreditation

The Winona State University Counselor Education Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling programs have been accredited through March 31, 2025 by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

The WSU Counselor Education department, as part of their comprehensive assessment plan, annually collects and analyzes program outcome data along with student and advisory board feedback. This information is compiled into a Winona State University's Counselor Education Annual Report (PDF).

The WSU School Counseling Program is currently also accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) from 2015 to 2022.

As the gold standard in counselor preparation and training, graduates of the WSU Counselor Education program will be recognized by most state licensing and registration boards in clinical mental health and school counseling specialties.
