Biel Leadership Fellowship

Due to the generosity of WSU alumni Karen Biel, undergraduate students in the Department of Nursing prelicensure BS in the Nursing Program have the opportunity to receive a $1,500 scholarship at the completion of the Biel Leadership Fellowship program.

A number of scholarships are available for nursing majors. For the most part, scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need and/or academic achievement. It may be required to show proof of financial need through completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

View all WSU Foundation Scholarships for more information. Scholarships are usually awarded in the spring for the following school year.

Individual benefactors, affiliating hospitals, and professional and community organizations also provide scholarships. Students are encouraged to contact agencies (hospitals, nursing homes, American Legion, VFW, etc.) in their hometowns with regard to possible nursing scholarships.

Additional Costs for Nursing Majors

In addition to University Course Fees, students in the Pre-Licensure Nursing Program incur additional fees, such as:
  • Transportation to and from clinical experiences
  • Scrubs for clinicals
  • Stethoscope
  • Differential tuition for nursing credits (approx. $42 per credit, subject to change)
  • Books and materials (print and electronic) for nursing are also quite expensive. Students' book expenses in Term 1 and Term 3 are quite substantial ( approx. $1500, subject to change)
The list is not intended to include all possible additional costs, but it is a good approximation
