Supplement to Instruction (S2I)
Tutoring Services offers two forms of organized group study sessions. While active group learning is an expectation of both these programs, our leaders strive to create a comfortable environment where its safe to make to the mistakes that are a natural part of learning.
- Supplement to Instruction (s2i) a regular scheduled active study sessions offered 1-2 times a week and facilitated by an experienced student who will be sitting in on the lecture. The sessions are free and attendance is voluntary. Because s2i sessions involve a variety of actives that help students learn from each other we have years of data showing that students who attend s2i earn higher grades than those who don't and those who attend regularly the best results.
- TLC+ is a new program that offers approximately 3-2 free organized study sessions a semester, usually about a week before an exam. The TLC+ sessions are facilitated by the peer tutor for that subject who has access to the course slides and resources and will help students actively work together through especially challenging material. They will also suggest study straggles targeted for that subject.
Both s2i and TLC+ are usually offered late afternoons or evening to avoid class conflicts for most students and because that is when suitable classroom space is usually available.
