A Message from President Olson

My name is Malorie Olson, and it is my honor to serve as your Winona State University Student Senate President for the 2022-2023 academic year. I am so excited to represent every single student. This small river town has become our home, and this is the place where we will grow into who we want to be.

As I was elected to this position, I have the honor and duty to serve every student on this campus. This is done through addressing important issues and struggles we all face as college students. While working with university administration, faculty, student clubs and organizations, and other community stakeholders, we will work towards a better environment and home here at Winona State. I am so inspired by all the great work that WSU students have done, and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

No university is perfect, and Student Senate strives to make this university a better place. Student Senate works around the clock to advocate on behalf of students on issues of affordability, inclusion, and student well-being. This campus would not be here without its students, so your individual passion and voice matters. I urge you all to advocate for what you believe in and use your voice to help Student Senate fight for those goals and issues you seek to change.

This year, mental health is at the upmost importance to Student Senate. This will be seen by campaigns to destigmatize counseling and resources, along with promoting the amazing services Winona State has. It is okay to not be okay and going to counseling is a fantastic resource that Winona State has, for free! Take advantage of the resources your fees pay for.
