STEM Education
Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education provides all students, beginning as young as elementary age, with the opportunity to learn high-tech skills in an integrated way.
In 2006, the United States National Academies articulated the following recommendations:
- Increase America’s talent pool by improving K–12 science and mathematics education
- Strengthen the skills of teachers through additional training in science, mathematics and technology
- Enlarge the pipeline of students prepared to enter college and graduate with STEM degrees
To meet these demands, the Rochester Education department works collaboratively with public and private stakeholders to build capacity of teacher candidates in the STEM area through STEM Camp and STEM Village.
