Minors
There are 5 minors available to students in Mass Communication who want to focus on a different major area.
Three of the available minors parallel the major options in Advertising, Creative Digital Media, and Public Relations. You can also choose to minor in general Mass Communication or Photography.
Advertising
The Advertising minor consists of 21 credits and is for students who want to learn the basics of advertising.
Creative Digital Media
The Creative Digital Media minor consists of 21 credits and allows students to create messages and stories and deliver them with a variety of media.
Mass Communication
The Mass Communication minor consists of 21 credits and is for students who want an overview of Mass Communication—the art of communicating in mass markets using several kinds of media.
Photography
Starting Fall 2022, the Photography minor consists of 18 credits and allows students to study various photographic practices.
Students will also:
- gain strong visual literacy and technical photography skills
- identify their unique creative voice
- learn the broad range of professional applications of photography within the fields of Art and Design and Mass Communication
Public Relations
The Public Relations minor consists of 21 credits and is for students who are interested in learning how to build a company’s awareness through their branding and communications.
