Get Involved in Residence Life
Getting involved on campus is one way to enhance your college experience at WSU.
Whether you are looking to step into a leadership role through Hall Council and RHA or become a student employee, we are confident your experiences will increase your leadership skills.
If you are not ready to take on a formal leadership role, there are still many ways to get involved. You can participate in your floor or hall events, assist your RA with planning an event, or volunteer to help on the Welcome Crew.
Residence Housing Association
Residence Housing Association (RHA) is the governing body of the residence halls on campus. Our mission is to serve the students living in the halls and to make it the best experience possible.
Each Hall Council consists of an elected President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. These positions can be held first-year and upper-level students.
Elections take place within the first month of fall semester.
Hall Council hosts meetings on Mondays in each hall where residents can ask questions and give feedback or concerns to the Hall Council members.
Are you looking to make minor changes within your hall? Do you have feedback on dining services? Do you want different items available at the front desk for students to use?
Bring these thoughts up at a meeting!
The Hall Council members will work with the Hall Director to see if change is possible! Hall Council is a great way to get involved in a leadership position on campus.
The RHA Executive Board oversees Hall Councils on campus, plans events for students living on campus, and advocates for students living in residence halls.
Executive Board positions are filled each spring semester.
WSU’s Residence Housing Association is affiliated with MACURH (Midwest Affiliate of College & University Residence Halls) and NACURH (National Association of College & University Residence Halls).
Each year, our local chapter travels to the regional and national conferences to learn new ways to improve our residence life program and ensure a positive and lasting on-campus experience.
National Residence Hall Honorary
The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is a student honorary supported by National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated (NACURH). NRHH strives to recognize individuals who have contributed to the advancement of Housing & Residence Life and the WSU community.
Members complete monthly recognition projects, write Of-The-Month (OTM) nominations, and complete service projects each semester. NRHH also provides its members with resource sharing, programming, and leadership development opportunities. To join, fill out the application form.
Of the Month Awards (OTMs)
Of The Month awards (OTMs) are short essay nominations (200-600 words) to recognize outstanding individuals and residence hall programs that have made significant impacts on our campus. OTMS are due at midnight on the 5th of every month. OTMs are graded on campus, regional, and national levels.
Anyone is welcome to submit an OTM nomination to say, “Good Job!” for all the hard work individuals put in daily.

Welcome Crew
Sign up for Welcome Crew to volunteer Aug. 22 and help new students move into the residence halls.
The WSU Welcome Crew is a combination of student, staff, faculty, retiree, and alumni volunteers who make the move in process easier by:
- directing traffic
- unloading vehicles
- transporting belongings to rooms
- distributing keys and student ID cards
- making new students feel welcome – the most important job
If you volunteer, you’ll sign up for a 4-hour shift—or take on more shifts, if you are interested. It’s a great way for student clubs and sports teams to fulfill community service hours.
All volunteers will get a free t-shirt and a free lunch or dinner on your shift. If you live on campus, you’ll be able to move in early too.
