Why Study Abroad?
Studying abroad is one of the best ways to improve your language proficiency and cultural knowledge. WSU has partnered with a number of educational institutions abroad. More information about these programs is available through the WSU Study Abroad office. Search WSU’s site for programs and destinations suitable for you! Talk to your academic advisor about how an experience abroad will fulfill your major or minor goals.Study Away vs Travel Study
A Study Away experience takes you for a semester or a full academic year to another country to immerse yourself in the language and culture. Often, WSU students live with a host family and take classes through a partner university. These classes transfer back to help fulfill the major or minor requirements.
Travel Studies are short-term (1-3 weeks) experiences led by a WSU faculty
member. A group of WSU students travel together, learn together, and get the
most out of their trip with the guidance of our faculty.
Previous Travel Studies have included:
- Paris, France
- Otavalo, Ecuador
- El Camino de
Santiago, Spain
- Machu Picchu, Perú
- Costa Rica
- Puerto Rico
You can get more detailed information about these programs from
the WSU Study
Abroad office. Contact any faculty member in the GSWL
department for more information and advising about these opportunities.
