English Faculty-Led Travel Programs

Winona State’s English department offers plenty of travel-programs, so students can learn more in their field of study while experiencing new environments, cultures, and history.

Live in Literature at Alnwick Castle in the United Kingdom

In this faculty-led program, students can live and study in a 1,000-year-old castle in Northeast England – which just happens to be where Harry Potter was filmed.

You will explore early English literature, while connecting it to surrounding art, architecture, landscape, and original manuscripts.

Contact Dr. Andrew Higl at ahigl@winona.edu for more information.

Dante in Italy

In this program, students will study the connection between the culture of Florence, Italy and Dante’s Commedia (The Divine Comedy).

You will explore the art, geography, culture, and history that influenced the work, while being fully immersed in Italian culture.
