Myles Weber
Raised in northern Minnesota, Dr. Weber attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis before relocating to Washington D.C., where he worked for the U.S. Department of State (with postings in Stockholm and Riyadh) and then attended the PhD program in English at the University of Maryland at College Park. After 4 years spent teaching in Ohio, he returned to Minnesota in 2007 to join the faculty at WSU.
Dr. Weber teaches a wide range of courses, including courses in playwriting and modern drama. His plays have been performed by theaters in San Francisco, Chicago and New York City, and a couple dozen of his essays on contemporary drama – which appear frequently in such journals as the “Georgia Review”, “Salmagundi”, and the “Sewanee Review” – were collected in “Middlebrow Annoyances: American Drama in the 21st Century”, published by Gival Press in 2003. The University of Georgia Press published his monograph “Consuming Silences: How We Read Authors Who Don’t Publish” in 2005.
When not working, Dr. Weber enjoys biking around Winona, watching films, and taking the train to Chicago or Minneapolis to attend the theater.
