The Dual Enrollment Program is a great opportunity for you to develop your expertise in English before you graduate, setting you up for success in your future career.
Admission Requirements
Getting admitted to the Dual Enrollment Program is based on your GPA and faculty recommendation.
To be eligible for admission, you must:
- be a junior and have completed between 80 – 90 credits at the time of application
- have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in your undergraduate English courses
- submit three letters of recommendation from WSU English instructors
- submit a substantial writing sample (15 – 20 pages) that demonstrates your ability to read and write at the graduate level

Make sure to submit all your application materials to Dr. Elizabeth Zold, Director of English Graduate Studies, by March 1 of each academic year.
What Happens after You're Admitted
During your final year of your bachelor’s degree, you can enroll in up to 12 credits at the 500-level. These credits will count toward both your undergraduate major (according to their 400-level equivalencies) and your graduate degree.
In order for these credits to transfer to your master’s degree, you must receive a B grade or higher.
Once you graduate with a bachelor’s degree, you’ll move on to taking only graduate-level courses.
As a graduate student, you’ll complete multiple projects, including writing an extensive research paper, compiling a portfolio, and presenting a paper at the graduate research symposium.
