Advising Services Resources for Families

Winona State is dedicated to the academic and personal success of your student, and the Advising Services team is here to help.

Your student going off to college is an exciting time, but it can also be nerve-racking as they explore new opportunities independently. Even if you are not there, they won’t be going through this alone.

Advising Services offers plenty of resources to make sure your student succeeds. Whether they want assistance with registering for classes, improving their academic standing, or anything in between, Advising Services can help.

How You Can Support Your Student

You can help support your student’s success by encouraging them to contact Advising Services. Some of the things Advising Services can help with include:

  • Deciding a major, or changing a major
  • How to read the Degree Audit Report
  • How to navigate the Student eServices course registration system
  • Getting back on track after falling below academic standing
  • Providing information about extra academic support, general education courses, and credit requirements
  • Resources for first generation students
  • Helping high school students take college level classes as a PSEO student
  • Have any question related to college and aren’t sure where to turn

Advisors are happy to meet with your student one-on-one to discuss their needs and concerns. We can meet with students in person, over the phone and even online.

Encourage your student to set up an appointment today.
